Biography

Unkas Carl Meyer was born on 30 April 1855 in Iowa.[1] Logan Fontenelle the rather famous Indian of the that period and those parts happened to stop by the Meyer home enroute to a conference with Government officials in Washington, D.C., about the tie of Unkas birth and gave him the name "Unkas". The Fontenelle Hotel in Omaha is in turn named after the old Indian

He married Carrie Bell Foote, daughter of Andrew Foote and Margaret Melissa (Billings) Foote on 6 Aug. 1879 in Bellevue, Nebraska.[2]

He was a house carpenter when he and Carrie appeared on the census of 25 April 1910 at Peru, Nemaha, Nebraska.[3]

Uncas died on 30 Oct. 1919 at Peru, Nemaha, Nebraska and was buried at Peru, Nemaha, Nebraska.[1]
