Biography

Hugh was born in 1861. He was the son of Hugh McLaren and Elizabeth Megarrity. He passed away in 1890.

From a letter written by Hazel McLaren Blizzard... "Uncle Thomas died at the age of 29. He was a giant , had to have his clothes tailor made. He was so strong he could shoulder a barrel of flour or potatoes. There were bets made and the last bet was that he lift an anchor, he lifted the anchor, but it caught his shoulder and punctured his lung and heart. He went down with the anchor and died. My grandfather took his death very hard."
