Note NI0434. James McLaren, born 2nd September 1843, baptised 24th September 1843 at Inverarity, died 15th January 1878, age 34 years, buried at Inverarity. The 1861 census for Little Lour Bothy listed him age 17, unmarried and a ploughman.

James is buried at Inverarity Churchyard, and the inscription reads;

"Erected by George McLaren, Gallowfauld in memory of his daughter Margaret who died 19th January 1842 age 2 ½ years, his son who died in infancy 24th July 1860, his son Thomas died 1st December 1873 age 23 years 9 months and Helen Mitchell his wife who died 19th March 1875 age 63. His daughter Jane, wife of James Constable died 25th January 1877 age 39 years interred at Monikie. His son James who died 15th January 1878 age 34 years."
