Biography

William McCoy was born in 1737 in Prince William (later Fauquier) County, Virginia.^[1] He married Anna (Stump) c1755 in Craven County, North Carolina.

In 1755, when he was about eighteen, he married Anna Unknown. She bore him three known children, two sons and one daughter:

1. John McCoy
2. Margaret McCoy
3. William McCoy

On 30 November 1764, when he was in his later twenties, William died in Loudoun County, Virginia, of unknown causes.

This info from an unknown Genealogy.com user is different but familiar:

"John Paine McCoy (17 Feb 1789 Bedford Co. Va - 8 Aug 1845 Breckinridge Co KY) and Susanna Kennedy are my ancestors. John Paine McCoy's parents are William McCoy ( 1756 Craven Co, NC - 27 November 1835 Bedford Co VA) and Joanna Payne (29 Apr 1761 Bedford Co. VA - ?). According to records I have been able to find, William's parents are believed to be a Willis McCoy born @1737 Fauquier Co, VA and married @1755 to Mrs. Cornelius Kesiah in Craven Co NC. This is from PAYNE AND ASSOCIATED FAMILIES OF BRECKINRIDGE CO, KY by Norman Payne. In reference to the information, he says it is unproven, but the best he was able to find, from research of Sylvia Jensen, Riverton, Utah, on file Church of Latter Day Saints, Salt Lake City, Utah. Batch F867045, sheet 44. Other than this info, I have hit a road block at this same spot."^[2]

   His widow, Anna, married John Stump on 30 Nov 1764. Thus at this date William McCoy was already deceased.
