Biography

I've been on WikiTree since 2014, but only active since 2021. My primary research interest for the past several years has been the descendants of Capt. Joseph Twitchell (1719-1792) and Deborah Fairbanks (1719-1775) of Sherborn, MA. I intend to create profiles for all of their great-great-grandchildren that my research leads to.

My great-grandfather was adopted. I have come to the conclusion, through DNA matches of his daughter, that his father was Sidney S. Twitchell of Milan, New Hampshire, a lumberman, farmer and businessman, and son of Cassius M. C. Twitchell, a lumberman, businessman and state senator. My research has been primarily focused on their (my) ancestors.

Hi Patrick. Your bio is interesting, doing the DNA matching to find connections. I see you do research in Massachusetts towns. You may already have these but the Massachusetts Town Histories have been helpful for me....

Vital records of Brookfield, Massachusetts : to the end of the year 1849 by Brookfield, Massachusetts. Publisher Worcester, Mass. : F.P. Rice 1909.

Vital Records of Sherborn, Massachusetts to the year 1850 by Sherborn, Mass; Thomas W. Baldin. Boston, Mass, Stanhope Press, F.H.Gilson, 1911.

And you probably know https://ma-vitalrecords.org/ which is great for quick checking.

Hello Patrick,

Congratulations on certifying to work on Pre-1700 profiles! It is very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Congratulations!

This week we have your last stop on the guided tour. Hopefully, you're feeling like a WikiTree pro! If not, you can always revisit the tour stops via the comment boxes on the right side of your profile.

You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. Today, we want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.

Please do not hesitate to ask questions! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, WikiMesssenger Cindy

Hello -

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.

There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.

Questions! Just ask me. We want to help!

Hi Patrick,

You have been a WikiTreer for several weeks now!

You are probably getting a feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree. Since collaboration isn't always easy, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

By the way, if you haven't signed the Honor Code yet, please stop by to check it out. It's the core of how WikiTree works, and members have more editing privileges after signing it.

I'm always happy to answer questions!

Hi –

I'm a member of the Mentor project, and I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Do you have any questions I can help you with?

Shirley

Hello Patrick,

Thanks for completing the tags indicating you wish to research/document your family history. You are now a confirmed WikiTree member!

So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

To know our community use the G2G forum and join the fun with our Question of the Week:

Do you have any heroic volunteers in your branch?

Great to have you on board and good luck growing your branches.

Hi Patrick,

Welcome to WikiTree! The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started.

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?

When you confirm your email address, you’ll be given an opportunity to volunteer to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

We’re really glad you’re here.

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.
