Thomas was born in 1843 in Wilcox, Alabama. He was the son of Thomas McBryde and Eliza Jones. On 15 Oct 1874, in Mobile, Alabama, he married Julie Horton (1853-1923, dau. of Gustavus Horton and Eliza Sargent). They had 2 known children.
Thomas served during the civil war from Feb 1861 through being present at the surrender in Appomattox in April 1865. At one point he was hospitalized for a "flesh wound of the thigh"[1] from being wounded at the battle of Sharpsburg (Antietam)[2]. And another time for tonsilitis[3].
Upon returning home from the war he settled back in Mobile, Alabama. They remained here until around 1910 when they moved to Whitfield, Georgia. It was here he passed away in 1937 at the age of 93. He is buried at the West Hill Cemetery. [4]
