“Robert Moppins, Jr., was born in Chicago to Mary Brown and Robert Moppins in 1918.” [1][2]
The 1940 Census shows Robert Moppins at age 21 in Milwaukee, in a lodging house.[3]
His WWII Draft Card as Robert Lee Maupin gives his address still in Milwaukee, and shows his exact birth date and place.[4]
He passed away on 28 Apr 1992 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.[5] and was laid to rest in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Los Angeles County, California. (Plot: Dawn of Tomorrow, Crypt #2626) [2]
From Wikipedia:
"better known as Iceberg Slim... an American pimp who subsequently became an influential author... In 1961, Maupin moved to Los Angeles and changed his name to Robert Beck, taking the last name of the man his mother was married to at the time."[6]
