GEORGE MARIS was born on 02 Dec 1662 in Inkberrow, Worcestershire, England. He died in 1753 in , Chester, Pennsylvania, USA. He married (1) JANE MADDOCK on 07 Jul 1690 in Delaware, Pennsylvania. She was born in 1668 in Loom Hall, Cheshire, , England. She died on 28 Jun 1705 in Chester, Pennsylvania. He married (2) JANE REES on 07 Jun 1718. She was born on 11 Sep 1682 in Merion, Chester, Pennsylvania, USA. She died on 13 Oct 1769 in Merion, Chester, Pennsylvania, USA.
Be it remembred that I George Maris Senior of Springfield in ye. County of Chester and Province of Pensylvania, yeoman, being sick and weak of body, but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testament: viz:
First my Will and desire is that all my just debts and funeral charges be clearly paid and discharged as soon as may be after my decease, and so to my personal estate, I dispose of as followeth.
Item, I give and bequeath to my dear & well beloved wife Jane Maris, my two best beds and furniture, and ye warming pan, also one black walnut chest, one high case of drawers, one oval table and a large looking glass likewise one spice box, a dressing box and all ye linnens. Also one large Bible, and my watch, likewise all the pewter, one large brass pot, with all the rest of the brass. Also, six walnut chairs, two cows and a mair, saddle and bridle.
Item my will is that my wife have four pounds a year from the place where my sister Susanna Maris lives, and ten pounds a year from the place where William McCoy lives to be paid to her yearly and every year by the tennants or their assigns during her life:
Item I give and bequeath to my wife all my bonds, bills notes, and book debts, and my will is that the above mentioned things be at my wifes disposall, and all ye. residue of my personal estate, to sold by my Executors hereafter named, and ye. money arising from such sale to be equally divided between my five grand-daughters and as for my real estate, know ye that according to my direction to my brother John Maris and my cousen George Maris in ye year 1746 there was a line run through my lands, which sd. line was run by Samual Levis. Beginning at the East side of Morda. Taylor's land, and the Northerly corner of ye. field where John Weybourn lived, and thence along the several courses to a corner of Joseph Yarnell's line, which being marked I do hereby ratifie and confirme the sd. line:
Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife all my houses, lands and appurtenances, on the South West side of ye. aforesaid line, to have all and singular the profits of the same untill my grandson George Taylor comes to age.
Then I give and bequath to my grandson George Taylor all the afore mentioned premisses,to him and his heirs forever, he paying to his sister Hannah Taylor the sum of fifty pounds currant lawfull money, ten pounds to be paid to her in two years after he coms into possession, and ten pounds a year after till the whole is paid.
Item my will is that my wife shall have that part of the house, where I now live, called the parlour and the chamber over it, and priviledge of ye. kitchen and seller, and ye. oven to bake in with liberty to pass and repass, and to have apples out of the orchard sufficient for her own use during her natural life,
Also my grand son George Taylor to keep two cows and a horse winter and summer for my sd. wife (the creatures to well kept) likewis my grandson George Taylor to cut and hall to the door as much firewood as is nessary for my wife during her life & further my will is that if my grandson George Taylor happen to die without issue lawfully begotten of his bodey then the sd. plantation to go to his sister Hannah and her heirs forever. But in default of issue to my grand daughter Hannah then to be equally divided between the rest of my grand children.
Item. I give and bequeath to my grandson George Owen all my houses and lands on the North East side of the aforementioned line, to him his heirs and assigns forever, except one hundred and twenty acres off that end next adjoining my cousen George Maris's land to be equally divided between my Three granddaughters Elizth. Rhoades, Susanna Owen and Rebecca Owen to them their heirs and assigns forever, they paying to their sister Jane West the sum of Three pounds a year each paying one pound a year during her life ye. sd. land to be divided by two persons that all three shall chuse, and I do hereby nominate and appoint my well beloved wife Jane Maris, my cousen George Maris and James Rhoades, Executors of this my last Will and Testament revoaking all former Wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23d of April A.D. 1753..

Then personally appeared John Hall William Mc.Cay and James Maris (the witnesses to the within Will) the said John Hall and James Maris on their solemn affirmations according to law. And the said William McCay on his oath on the holy Evangelists of Almighty God did declare and say that they were personally present and did see and hear George Maris the Testator within named, sign, seal, publish pronounce and declare the within writing to be his last Will and Testament, and that at the doing thereof he was of sound mind and memory to the best of their understandings, and also that their names suscribed thereunto as witnesses were of their own proper hand writings respectively. Be it remembered that on the 17th. day of May Anno Domini 1753 the last . Will and Testament of George Maris the elder late of the said County Yeoman deceased, was proved in due form of law and Probate and Letters of admin-. istration was granted to his well beloved wife Jane Maris, his cousin George . Maris and James Rhoads sole Executors in the said Testament named, being . first attested well and truly to administer and bring in an Inventory of the . deceased's estate into ye. Register General's Office at Chester on or before the
