Biography
Andrew Wilson Malcolm was baptised on the 6th May 1819 in Dunfermline, his parents were John Malcolm (a Baker) and Catherine Wilson. [1] He would later give Edinburgh as his place of birth.
In the 1841 Census of Bowmore, Islay; Andrew Malcolm is recorded as a 20 year-old Clerk, boarding in the household of Isabella Robertson, in the Bridgend section, north of Daill River. [2]
Andrew Wilson Malcolm and Jemima Crawford Souter were married in Bowmore, in the parish of Bowmore or Kilarrow, Argyleshire, Scotland, on the 14th July 1842. [3]

Andrew W. Malcolm enlisted in New York under Capt. Smith for service in the US Army on the 26th July 1852; aged 33. He was over 5 feet 9 inches with blue eyes, brown hair and a ruddy complexion. He gave his birth place as Edinburgh and occupation as Clerk. [5]

Malcolm Andrew W., born: Edinburgh, Scotland; (discharged age: 38) Clerk; served at Fort Fillmore (under Capt. Rhett) for 5 years (blue eyes, brown hair, ruddy complexion & 5'9" tall) served in the Rifles Company - developed "Delirium Tremens". He died 26th January 1862 and is thought to be buried Fort Craig, San Antonio, Socorro, New Mexico, United States. [8]
He was serving in G Company, the Third Regiment of Cavalry, and said to have been buried in Fort Craig, San Antonio, Socorro, New Mexico, United States. [9]
Jemima C. Malcolm (widow) of Andrew W. Malcolm (service : G 3 U.S. Cav.) is named on an application for a US Army Pension; record no. 84 023 dated Feb. 23rd 1865; unit G-3-U.S. Cav. [10]
