Biography

Thomas Maclin received a Virginia Land Grant in that part of Brunswick County that became Lunenburg County on 5 Feb 1753, consisting of 315 acres on the branches of Dockrays Creek and Flatt Creek, adjoining Collier, Manning. Flatt Creek flows into the north side of the Meherrin River.[1]

Thomas and Frederick Maclin petitioned the Colonial Assembly on the Estate of John Maclin for past monies owed John for work completed by his firm of Maclin, Twitty, Willis, & Co. which was ordered to survey land on the Western frontiers in 1770.[2]

Thomas Maclin wrote his will 25 Feb 1798 while living in Brunswick County, Virginia. Per his will he also owned land in adjoining Greensville County. He named his wife and children. He owned valuable property he left his family. He died by 23 April 1798 when his will was probated in court.[3]
