Biography

Reverend Hugh MacBean of Ardclach Parish was born in 1778, at Croy Parish, Inverness, a son of Alexander MacBean and Rose Grant. Hugh married Ann Fraser (1791-1864). Children of Hugh and Ann are:

  • Rose Fraser Macbean, born 1814, married Samuel Chapman (Buenos Aires)
  • Annabella Munro Macbean, born 1816 died after 1857, married Henry Maxwell
  • Alexina Fraser Macbean, born May 15, 1818, christened July 7, 1818, at Ardclach [1]
  • Aeneas Macbean, born June 13, 1820, christened August 10, 1820 at Ardclach, died 1899, married Marianne Gordon
  • John Macbean (1822-died young)
  • Hugh Macbean (1825-aft 1851)
  • Margaret Duguid Macbean (1826-1864) married Patrick James Dewar
  • Alexander Macbean (1828-died young)
