Biography

Chapman was born about 1838 to Thomas Lowrie and Magdalen Elder and baptised 08 Sep1838 in St. Monance. [1]

He was enumerated in the 1851 Scotland Census living with his father, Thomas, a 44 year old fisherman and his mother, Magdalen 43. Also living there are his siblings - Ann 18, Elizabeth 15, Alexander 9, Thomas 7, Andrew 5 and Magdalen 2. Chapman was 12. They were all living on Fore St. in St. Monance. [2]
