James was born before 1843. He was the son of Artemus Losey and Emily Brown (House) Losey. He passed away in 1911. James was born and died in Nelson, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, and buried in the Nelson Cemetery.He married on November 3, 1869 in Nelson, Pennsylvania, Jennie M. Merritt,daughter of Hiram and Mary Ann Merritt. The Reverend Samuel A. Rawson performed the ceremony. James was a Republican in politics, a Justice of the Peace, and an Elder in the Nelson Presbyterian Church for forty years.He was a lumber"merchant and a master cabinet maker until he was killed in the mill.
