Biography

Andrew Logan came to America from Ireland in one of the five major migrations of Scotch-Irish (a term used only in America) from Ulster. These migrations occurred in 1717-1718, 1725-1729, 1740-1741, 1754-1755, and 1771-1775. Approximately 200,000 of these Scotch-Irish came to America in these five migrations.

A few of the emigrants arrived in the Dutch settlements along the Hudson River, where the land was owned by "Patroons" and none was for sale. Most of these new arrivals moved southward. As the early arrivals occupied the land in western Pennsylvania and Virginia that was best suited to agriculture, the others moved into the piedmont regions of the Carolinas, where land cost less, and where they were welcomed for they served as a barrier between the Indians and the coastal settlements.

Hendrick Andries Logan was born in Inver, Antrim, Ireland in 1705. He traveled to Albany, New York where he married Alida Pruyn on 29 Oct 1733. (banns read) on 16 Oct 1733. Marriage was recorded at the Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, NY.[1][2] 1733 16 Oct,
