Biography

Thankmar is thought to be the oldest son of Otto 'der Erlauchte" Duke of Saxony, and his wife Hedwig (Hathui) and he was perhaps born about 870.[1] Thankmar was possibly still alive in 907,[2] but he died before his father; before 30 November 912.

Hlawitschka, (as quoted in Cawley) proposed that the early Margraves of Meissen were descended from one of the older brothers of Heinrich, either Liudolf or Thankmar, and Cawley makes Ekkehard, who died in 954, the possible grandson of Liudolf.

Wikitree policy for names is that they are in the language the person would have used, in this case German. Saxony seems to be inappropriate as the LNAB, he is a member of the Liudolfing dynasty and Liudolfing may be a better choice as LNAB.
