Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States
Elisabeth, maiden name unknown for now, was born in 1880 in Grimm, Russia. She married fellow Grimmer Philipp Kaiser, and the couple had at least three children:
Elisabeth Kaiser, born in 1903
Maria Kaiser, born 1904
August Kaiser, born 1911
In late 1905, Philipp and his brother Georg Jakob "Jake" began to make plans to immigrate with their families to the United States. The exact details of that sea voyage are still being researched. When they arrived at the U.S. port, however, one of the children had an ear infection and was denied entry. Rather than split up the families, they both decided to go instead to Argentina where there were other large German populations.
The circuitous route took them back to Hamburg Germany, where they boarded a ship bound for La Plata, Argentina. Traveling steerage, they made the ardurous journey which included stops in Dover, England; Boulogne-sur-Mer, France; Coruña Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; and finally La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
It's unclear how long the family remained in Argentina. Her brother-in-law Jake's wife was unhappy there, and his family eventually returned to Russia. They finally made a successful journey to the United States in 1911, living for a few years in Colorado before making Fond du Lac, Wisconsin their home.
