Welcome WikiTree! As a lifetime educator, I would like to offer my opinion that the best action you can take here is to enter in as many ancestors as you know and can verify. Have your sources handy, such as birth/death certificates, census records, or sites verifying that info. I keep computer folders for every ancestor so I have ready access to info.

Family trees on other sites don't count except as hints for who to look for and verify. However, there are some sites such as familysearch.org who have excellent resources for searching records not only in the US and Canada, but also many European countries. Much info that some sites charge for is freely available if you know how to get to it!

My advice is to start close to home, and I will tell you firsthand that Pennsylvania has really great records back to before the Revolutionary era. If your family have church affiliations look up church records.

Cite everything, even yourself. You have a birth certificate showing your mother and father so start with that for your own profile. WikiTree has great guides on how to enter citations.

This is a big community and there are many of us who will provide guidance and as we can. I wish you the best!!! Don't hesitate to ask specific questions in the appropriate groups.
