Name Etymology

"Brandon is a masculine given name that is a transferred use of a surname and place name derived from the Old English brōm, meaning broom or gorse, and dūn, meaning hill. It is also sometimes a variant of the Irish masculine given name, Breandán, meaning "prince". - Wikipedia

"Michael is a usually masculine given name derived from the Hebrew phrase מי כאל‎ mī kāʼēl, 'Who [is] like-El', in Aramaic: ܡܝܟܐܝܠ (Mīkhāʼēl [miχaˈʔel]). The theophoric name is often read as a rhetorical question – "Who [is] like [the Hebrew God] El?",[1] whose answer is "there is none like El", or "there is none as famous and powerful as God." This question is known in Latin as Quis ut Deus? Paradoxically, the name is also sometimes interpreted as, "One who is like God." - Wikipedia

"The surname Lehnhardt is a Roman-German mixed compounded of Leo (lion) and "Hard," the medieval German word for "brave." St. Leonhardt was the patron saint of farmers and horses." - Houseofnames

Brandon,

I see that you have been changing relationships, like adding Tossers-1 as a mother for Polley-104 which are Pre-1700 Profiles. It's great if you have found sources for these profiles. I see there were previously some questions about them. Per the help (linked above) be sure to coordinate with the Profile Manager and/or the project before making major changes, such as adding a mother. The England Project might be able to help you.

Hi Brandon,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After adopting orphans FAQ to understand what to do next and it explains the special attention those profiles need. You may also want to go through the new member help on How to manage your Watchlist.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi Brandon,

I'm also reaching out to you with regards to duplicate profiles of Anne (Hamilton) O'Brien and Anne (Hamilton) O'Brian. Parents George Hamilton and Elizabeth (Villiers) Hamilton. Maybe you can rectify this. Many thanks Megan

Thank you for bringing this to my attention I requested the merge to both profile managers.

Hey, I follow Magruder profiles and have been working on some lately. I noticed that you created a couple of duplicate profiles today, so I am reaching out to point it out. Especially with pre-1700 profiles like Ninian and Samuel, there is a good chance the profile already exists since they have many thousands of descendants and millions of tangential relatives. If you want, I can initiate the merges, or else I'll leave it up to you.

I too follow Magruder profiles and noticed that some duplicates have been created, notabably one with Samuel Magruder. Please OK the merge and we'll make the duplicate go away. I'd prefer to make any post-merge edits myself.

Hello Brandon,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
