Biography

Pierre dit Pierrot was born about 1730. He was the son of Jacques Léger and Anne Marie Amireau.[1]

He married Marguerite about 1751.[1]

Children:[1]

  1. Unknown son who died young
  2. Esther ca 1755

The 1752 census shows that they were living at Petcoudiac. There was only 1 child in the household, a boy.[2]

By 1755 there was only 1 girl in the family home in Petcoudiac.[3]

They were refugees at Camp d'Espérance in Miramichi around 1758-1759.[4]

The 1761 censuses showed them living in Caraquet. In the census taken in November by Mackenzie, they were on a list of 157 Acadians left in Caraquet because there weren’t enough vessels to take them away. [5] [6]

In 1763, Pierre, Marguerite and Esther were prisoners at Fort Beauséjour.[7]

He married Nathalie dite Anastasie Breau (Pierre & Anne-Françoise Dupuis), widow of Jacques LeBlanc, about 1775.[1]

Children:[1]

  1. Marie-Blanche

He passed away in Richibouctou-Village on 29 Jan 1805.[1]

Research Note

Stephen White does not mention a last name for Marguerite in 37 families. Karen Theriot Reader gives the last name Grosvalet, but no parents named.
