Biography

Volney Leavitt was born at Livermore, Maine, on 27 Sep 1842, the son of Stephen Leavitt and Sarah "Sally" (Ellis) Leavitt.^[1]

During the Civil War, Volney Leavitt served as a corporal in Company A of the 29th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment.^[2] Volney Leavitt was killed at the Battle of Cedar Creek, on 19 Oct 1864.^[3][4][5]
