Biography

Jonas Laver was born in 1819 in Somerset, England, the son of Sarah Laver and Edmund Laver.^[1]

Jonas Laver migrated from Somerset, England to the Colony of New South Wales (Port Phillip District).

Jonas Laver was a convict after the Third Fleet transported to the Colony of New South Wales (Port Phillip District)

Jonas arrived in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in 1846 on the ship 'Maitland'.^[2]

Note: Jonas Laver was one of 299 convicts transported to the Australian Penal Colonies on the Maitland, 22 June 1846. He was offloaded at the Port Phillip on the 27th of October, 1846

Captain John Gray sailed from London on 26 June 1846, bound for Hobart Town. She arrived at Port Phillip on 9 November. She had embarked 299 convicts and she disembarked 291 at Port Phillip. She then sailed for Hobart Town, where she arrived on 27 October. There she disembarked her remaining six prisoners.

He married Mary Ann Fry in 1854 in Victoria.^[1][2][3] Their children were:
