Frank Laubach is Notable.

Frank Charles Laubach was born Sept 2, 1884 in Benton, Columbia County, Pennsylvania. He is the son of Dr. John Brittain and, his third wife, Harriet Jane Derr; 5th great-grandson of Johann Reinhart Laubach.

Frank C. Laubach's profession was a missionary; teaching literacy around the world and made this his life's work. While working in the Philippines, he developed the Each One, Teach One literacy program. [1]

Frank Laubach founded the Laubach Literacy in 1955.

The Laubach Way to Reading series grew out of the work of the late Dr. Frank C. Laubach (1884 - 1970) and his son Dr. Robert Laubach. [2]

One June 11, 1970 in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York, the world lost a great man. Frank is buried in his hometown of Benton, Pennsylvania at Benton Cemetery. His stone is engraved Each One Teach One [3]

In 1984, the US Postal Service honored Frank C. Laubach, as the first American missionary, on a 30¢ postal stamp as part of the Great Americans series. [4]

Research Notes

My grandmother sent a post card to each of her children and grandchildren with the Frank C. Laubach stamp; post marked from the Benton Post Office on the day of release, however the stamps were not fully cancelled; instead they were mailed in a larger envelope.
