Hello! I have been researching my family since the 1970s and am happy to help others. My private database currently contains over 15,000 persons. My mother's ancestors were mostly Norwegians from Telemark, Rogaland, and Oslo. Her grandmother was born in Larvik to Swedes from Bohuslän and Älvsborg counties. My father's ancestors were principally English people who settled New England in the 1620s and 1630s, Scots-Irish folk who came from Pennsylvania to the Piedmont, North Carolina, in the early 1700s, and German and Irish families who settled in pre-revolutionary war New York and Ontario. My paternal grandmother's grandparents were Welsh immigrants. I love meeting new cousins!

When she isn't doing genealogy, she paints, walks her Siberian Husky in the park, and works in the garden.

Hi Kimberly! I have a niece who married into the Latta family in Ontario. I'm wondering if there's a connection at all.
Hello Rhonda! Nice to hear that you have a niece who married into a Latta family in Ontario, California? Canada? I'm afraid I don't know of any Latta family members in either place. But it is nice to hear from you!

Hello, Stuart,

I received your email and apologize for not responding earlier. I am relatively new to Wikitree and don't know how to find your previous messages to me, or how to find the discussion in the forum.

What I recall is that it seemed to me that the Wales project teams seemed more specific and that comitting to join one of them would lead me away from the work I really want to do, which is write biographies about my own Welsh ancestors, as well as write biographies about my Norwegian and Swedish ancestors. There are so many ancestors whose history I want to tell. I could not see how the work I was already doing would be considered a contribution to the Wales Project generally, since the project teams have such specific goals.

I am currently engaged in the Profile Improvement Project, which has taken up quite a bit of my time and taught me a great deal. I have snatched time away from that endeavor to work on other profiles, including that of my third-great-grandfather, Francis Rolins, the progenitor of many of immigrants to America. When I perused the Wales project, I could not see how this work would contribute to the general goals of the project, and that is why I did not join. If you think that this sort of profile does further the interests of the Wales project and could recommend a team where it would be appreciated, please let me know.

Creating and improving profiles for people who were born or lived in Wales is an important part of the project.

You should consider the Bio-Builders Team. Click on the Profile Improvement Teams link to find this team.

If that is your decision, send the response via Private Message - the link just to the right of your name as Profile Manager.

I apologize for my ignorance. When you say, "send the response via Private Message - the link just to the right of your name as Profile Manager," what do you mean? my name as profile manager of which profile? I manage many profiles.

Hi, Kimberly

At WikiTree, we aim to protect the privacy of all living individuals for their protection and in line with data protection legislation.

WikiTree has excellent privacy controls, but that won’t protect you and your family if you publish your personal information or the information of your living family members in your biography, Communications section, or on the profiles of others.

Since WikiTree is a public website, I suggest you remove references to dates, locations, or living individuals from your biography, communication section, or comments. You have exact dates and places that may put your security in danger.

For further information, see Privacy and Data Protection. For WikiTree’s Privacy Policy, see Privacy Policy.

Many thanks

Hi Kimberly,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After adopting orphans FAQ to understand what to do next and it explains the special attention those profiles need.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi Kimberly,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!

It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi, Kimberly!

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
