Otto was born in 1853 in Germany (Prussia), the son of William Lange and Caroline Schumacher. He immigrated to the US in 1853 with his parents. Otto married, in 1879, to Elizabeth Mertz, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He passed away in 1944 and is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

PIONEER DIES: Otto A. Lange, 90, pioneer Saginaw resident, died Friday at the Grandville home of his son, Carl W. Lange. He came here with his parents in 1853, his father clearing a wooded area at the northwest corner of Cass and Oakley to establish the homestead.
Mr. Lange attended the Lutheran church and public schools here, later following his trade as a sheetmetal worker. He married Eliza Mertz April 24, 1879, in Cincinnati, a few years later returning to Saginaw, where he was active at his work until retirement at the age of 75. He leaves three children, Mrs. Walter A. Leesch of Saginaw, Carl A. Lange of Grandville and Mrs. Floyd W. Hershey of Detroit; three brothers, Emil of Sault Ste. Marie, Charles T. of Saginaw and Rudolph of Prudenville; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will take place at 2pm Monday at the Case chapel, Rev. Andrew H. Killmer will officiate and burial will be in Forrest Lawn. Mr. Lange may be seen at the Case chapel from tonight until the time of the service.
