Biography

Adeline married William Peverel. Her parentage is unknown. They had four known children, possibly born between 1075/80 and 1100.[1]

'"Henry I King of England confirmed the donation of the church of Lenton to Cluny, by charter dated to [1103/14], which records “Willelmo Peverello cum uxore sua Adaleida et filio suo Willelmo” as founders of the church and is subscribed by “… Willelmi Pevrelli de Notingaham, Adeline sue uxoris, Willelmi Pevrelli filii illorum…”[321].[1]
'“Willelmus Peverellus” donated land “juxta Picheseie” to Colchester St. John, with the advice of “matris mee A.”, by undated charter[322].[1]
'The 1130 Pipe Roll records "Adeline mat[ri Will Peur] de Noting" in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire[323].[1]
'The Cartulary of the Priory of St James, Northampton records the death “XIV Kal Feb” of “Adelyne uxis ei” (immediately after that of “Willi Peverell fundatoris”)[324].'[1]
William & his wife had four children:
  • ADELISE ([1075/80]-after 27 May 1156). "Adeliz de Redveris"[1]
  • WILLIAM Peverel (-1100).[1]
  • MATILDA Peverel (-after 1129).[1]
  • WILLIAM Peverel ([1100/05]-after 1155).[1]

Research Notes

Merge of profiles offered two different death dates: 1114 and 19 Jan 1120. The G2G post asking for the merge to be completed noted that her death date was "apparently 19 Jan, unknown year". It also noted that the place of birth and place of death were unknown.[2]

From the merged profile (Lancaster-226):
Birth about 1160 is apparently based on c1075-1105 birth dates for children (Cawley placed the dates in brackets, which indicates uncertainty).

DeLancaster-11 and Unknown-396163 appear to represent the same person because: these appear to be duplicate profiles - the parents of Adeline are not known, so Adelais (Normandie) de Lens needs to be detached before/during the merge. See also https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/961033/pre-1500-merge

Lancaster-226 and Unknown-396163 appear to represent the same person because: Lancaster-226 is a confused profile. Maybe has a death date from DeLancaster-11, but she is probably based on a confusion between Lancaster-870 and Unknown-396163. I think the easiest is to merge into the latter. All information in Unknown-396163 should take precedence.

On the geni . com site the profile manager says her parents are unknown (this was in 2010); the profile has a different father as well. (?)

Parents birthdates are both after her birthdate. Error in dates or parentage.
