Biography

The daughter of John Lamb III and Martha (Thorpe) Lamb, Hannah Lamb was born in Schoharie Township, New York in 1803.^[1] She married Ozias Smith (1805-1869), the son of John C. Smith and Nancy A. Durham, having three known children together:

1. Hannah Jennette Smith (1829-1922)
2. John Ansley Smith (1830-1915)
3. Melissa Smith (1832-1913)

They migrated west to the Michigan Territory, taking up residence first in Riga Township, in Lenawee County, and later settling in Saline Township, in Washtenaw County.^[2][3] Her husband passed away in 1869; in 1870, Hannah Smith lived in the home of James and Caroline Bush, in Saline Township.^[4] She is believed to have passed away there in 1879 and is most likely buried with her husband at Oakwood Cemetery in Saline, Michigan.^{[citation needed]}
