"On the 11th September 1944 was killed in action Peter Lalor, aged 26[30], of the King's Royal Rifle Corps of the British Army. He was the only son of Captain J. P. Lalor, who was killed at the landing on Anzac Beach, leading his company of the 13th Battalion of the A.I.F.  : He was the son of Dr Joseph Lalor, who will be remembered by old Ballarat residents when he was practising as a medical man in Sturt street in 1897. He was the only son of Peter Lalor, Commander-in-Chief of the rebel diggers at the fatal affair at Eureka on 3rd December, 1854.
So the chain is complete. On 11th September passed away the last male descendant of the Peter Lalor, whose name will always be remembered in the history of BalIarat."—Mr N. Spielvogel, president of the Ballarat Historical Society, made this announcement at a meeting of the Historical Society.

Peter Bernard Lalor killed in action in 1944 was not the last male descendant of Peter Lalor of Eureka fame. Dr Joseph Lalor had two sons, Captain Joseph Peter Lalor and Dr Peter Anthony Lalor. Doctor Lalor had a son Peter Fintan Lalor and he in turned had three sons Peter Fintan Lalor, Anthony George Lalor and Fintan Patrick Lalor.

Also, Dr Peter Anthony Lalor's eldest child, Nano Bernadette Lalor married Keith Philp but throughout her life carried the family name Lalor. Her only son is Peter Lalor Philp. Regards, Peter Lalor Philp Leader of Lalors Australia
