Biography

Anna L'Hermite was a daughter of juweler Peter L'Hermite, who after the fall of Antwerpen went to live in Hamburg, he was a brother of Jeronimus L'Heremite and the family had close relations to the Marcelis family. Anna (Tanneken) L'Hermite after the death of her first husband Francois de Keere (might be a 'Dutchified' name, just like the Heremijt or Leremijt from the marriage record) married on 10 January 1601 in Rotterdam Gabriel Mercelis Elewauts (probably Elswout) [1]

Research Notes

There is no evidence to support the notion that this woman was the mother of New Netherland immigrants Hendrick Marselis or Marselis Janse, nor is there evidence that the two immigrants were brothers.

Daughter of Pieter l'Hermite and Elisabeth Haunders.

Married to Gabriel Marselis. For a list of their children, see his profile.

Notes

Anna is related to the famous seafarer from Antwerp Jacques l'Hermite (1582-1684).[5] In J. Venema's book about Kiliaen Van Rensselaer[6] we find details about his brother-in-law and companion Jacques l'Hermite, and his heritage. Jaques' father was also named Jaques l'Hermite. He mentiones an Anna l'Hermite who could have been Jaques' sister who married Fracuis van de Pere in London in 1592, but this is a different Anna. Jaques l'Hermite senior is mentioned to have had a brother Peter, a jeweler, who went to Hamburg after 1585. This must be Anna's father. The siblings that are mentioned are Jacques sr., Peter, Jeronimus, Lucia, Dionys or Dennys. Lucia l'Hermite went to Amsterdam where she married the kruidenier Floris Heckelaer, who helped form the Lutheran Church in Amsterdam.

L'Hermite-3 and L'Hermite-2 appear to represent the same person because: Some uncertainty about dates of birth and death here, but clearly the same person.

Her death date is before the birth of her children.

D Ehrmitage-1 had as place of death Hamberg, Ebersberg, Bayern, Germany; perhaps a mistake but certainly to be taken in consideration as alternative option.

D Ehrmitage-1 and D'Ehrmitage-3 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest maternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge. No tree conflicts. I saved data to the bios. Thanks!
