William was a younger son of Philip de Kyme, of Newton Kyme, of Sotby, Lincolnshire, by Agnes, daughter of William Waley. He had two sons: Philip, Knt., and Simon. William was heir to his older brother Simon in 1247. He died shortly before 3 Sep 1259.[1]
ODNB states:
"By 1251 William owed 320 marks to Jewish moneylenders. In 1259 he demised to John of Swaneborn his manor of Baumber for seven years, and owed Gui de Lusignan, the king's half-brother, over £95, which he had used to repay his father's debts. Although indebted, William endowed the chapters of Nun Appleton, Louth Park, Bullington, possibly Haverholme, and Lincoln Cathedral. He married Lucy de Ros with whom he had a son and heir, Philip, first Lord Kyme (d. 1323). In 1259 the king granted the custody of William's lands and two sons and a daughter to the justiciar, Hugh (III) Bigod, for £3000."[2]
Farrer:
