Biography

Botilla was the daughter of the lighthouse keeper at Kullen lighthouse. She was born at nearby Kullagården, the family residence. Botilla's godmother was Catharina Bolin, wife of skipper Nils Pyk. Her other godparents were quartermaster Jonas Friedrich Brinck of Kullagården (widower of Anna Kullenberg), Peter Kullenberg of Mölle, Bengt Larsson of Mölle, Botilla Kullenberg of Kullagården (little Botilla's cousin, sister of the late Anna Kullenberg and future wife of Anna's widower JF Brinck), Karna Kullenberg of Mölle, and Elna Delin of Mölle (little Botilla's maternal aunt).

In the 1810s, Botilla lived with her mother and stepfather at Mölle Läge No 42. Ellna Delin also lived with them. After leaving home, Botilla worked as a maid ("piga") at the vicarage in Fosie under minister C Sylvan for a few years prior to her marriage. Her husband-to-be worked as farm hand at the same vicarage. They were married in 1826. As Botilla's father was deceased at the time of her marriage, Paulus Landby, vicar of Kropp, stood in the place of her guardian and gave consent to the marriage. He was married to Botilla's paternal aunt Kjerstina Kullenberg.

Botilla and her husband had at least five children, three of whom died in childhood. Their two oldest children, Johanna and Boel, passed away within a month of each other in the summer of 1829. That same year, Botilla and her husband moved from Hindby to Fosie. The third child, Nils Peter, was born the following year. He grew up to become a teacher. The next son, Jöns, also became a teacher, before changing careers to become an ironmonger. Youngest child Johannes died in infancy. Botilla herself passed away early, at age 39. The cause of death was "hektik", likely tuberculosis. Her husband later remarried. Botilla's son Jöns and her grandchildren (the surviving sons of Nils Peter) took Botilla's last name as their family name.

At the time of death, she lived at Fosie No 23.
