Ellis Knox was a part of the Civil Rights Movement.

Ellis O. Knox was an American academic known for being the first African-American to be awarded a Ph.D from the University of Southern California in 1931. Knox worked alongside Thurgood Marshall in the campaign that led to the desegregation of DC schools and he also served as the Chairman of Education for the NAACP from 1945 to 1962.^[1]

Son of Prince Albert Knox and Addie Martha Alexander. He married Ana Lois Wynne on 28 Sep 1926 in Los Angeles, CA.
