Biography
Roland was born in 1882 in Leeds.[1]
In the 1891 census Roland (age 8) was in Royal Bath Hotel, Bath Road, Christchurch, Hampshire & Dorset, England.[2]
In the 1901 census Roland (age 18) was the single son of Mary L Kitson at 13, Kensington Court, Kensington, London & Middlesex, England.[3]
He was educated at Westminster School and Trinity College Cambridge.[4][5]
In the 1911 census Roland (age 28), Iron master, was a single visitor at 137 King's Road Brighton, Brighton, Sussex, England.[6]
In 1913 he married Sheila Vandaleur in St George's, Hanover Square.[7]
He served as an officer in the 1st/8th West Yorkshire Regiment during World War I and was awarded a Military Cross.[8][5]
In the 1921 census Roland (age 38), Director Iron & Steel Trade, was the married head of household on Dib Lane, Roundhay, Leeds, Yorkshire (West Riding), England.[9]
He was a director of the Bank of England from 1923-1947.[5]
After the death of his first wife, he married again to Dorothy Christabel Rowland Pelly on the 16th September 1937 in Chelsea. [10]
In the 1939 register Roland (age 57), Director Book Of Eng, was recorded as married at 20 Chelsea Square, Chelsea, Kensington And Chelsea, Chelsea, London, England.[11]
He died on 20 March 1958.[12][13]
