Hi Larry

Hi,

At WikiTree we do not post our personal phone number/email address on our profile or on any other profiles as it can lead to receiving unwanted spam as Wikitree is a public website.

At WikiTree we communicate by posting a comment on another member profile or sending a personal message from the profile of a member.

Take care

Hi Larry!

I am so delighted to welcome you to WikiTree! Thank you for upgrading. You are all set to add and edit profiles now.

Click here to start with our New Member How To Pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. To get the best results, you need to start with yourself and add sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to existing profiles in WikiTree. 24 hours later, your test will have populated on the profiles of your ancestors and their descendants, where others with potential matches may also appear.

Have fun collaborating on your ancestors

Hi Larry, I see that you've uploaded a large gedcom to WikiTree, with a lot of people who may already be here ("Suggested Matches"). I recommend that you add your parents manually, then your grandparents, etc., all by hand, not using a gedcom. Then you might add some of their siblings. This would give you an opportunity to work a bit in WikiTree before you have over 700 profiles to work on from your gedcom. When you add a gedcom and some of your people are already here, and you correctly skip them, you end up having to go back and manually reconnect parents and children. If you don't skip them, then you have duplicates that have to be merged. In the long run it's often best to enter people manually. If you're still set on using a gedcom I suggest you limit it to 50 or fewer people.

Hello Larry,

Welcome to WikiTree! The email you just got from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests -- fill in at least one of your Tags with the names, locations or historical events you're researching and click the "Save Tag(s) and Volunteer" button. One of our Greeters will come along and confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.
