Gardiner Kinyon was born on December 6, 1757 in Charlestown, Kings, Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, son of Nathan Kenyon (~1731–1821) and Mary Green (~1738–1805).
Gardiner (24) married Susannah Boss (20) (born on July 4, 1762) on July 4, 1782 in Rhode Island, USA. Their children were:
- Caleb Boss Kenyon (1791–1857)
- Elizabeth Kenyon (1793–1879)
- Susannah Kenyon (1795–1866)
- James Burrell Kenyon (1801–1880)
- Mary Kenyon (1803–1860)
