Biography

Ruth M King was born in Pennsylvania in 1830. She was the daughter of Eleazer King and Lois Polly Califf.

In 1852, Ruth married Lester Chittenden, the son of Reuben Chittenden, Jr and Miranda (possible surname Peck). Lester and Ruth farmed in Newark Valley, Tioga County, New York. They had three known children, who were:

• Loran Chittenden (1854-1854), died 2 days old;
• Carrie L Chittenden (1860-1935), m. Lewis J Mead; and
• Flora M Chittenden (1868-1935), m. John F Harding.

Ruth died in Newark Valley, Tioga County, New York on 15 December 1893.
