Biography
Mary Melvina Driggs formerly Kimball was born August 29, 1858 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, the daughter of Heber C. Kimball and Mary (Smithies) Kimball. Her father was one of the original apostles of the Church of Latter Day Saints. Mary's mother was the first child born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Great Britain.[1]
Interestingly, her father christened her mother and is quoted as saying:
...when she was two weeks old they presented the child to me; I took it in my arms and blessed it, that it should live to become a mother in Israel.[2]
