Biography
Catherine was born about 1775, a daughter of David Kerr and Ann Grieve.
Marriage records show her name as Catherine but baptism records of her children show that the mother's name was Christian - the two seemingly interchangeable!
Her surname is found written sometimes Kerr, sometimes Carr.
She married David... what was his surname? The handwriting is nearly illegible! Blackball, Blackbell, Blackbull, Blackhall? Their marriage was recorded on 23 May 1794 at Longformacus, Berwickshire and on 31 May 1794 at Eckford, Roxburghshire. (Scottish marriages in this period were typically recorded twice: in the home-parishes of the two parties.)
