I have been researching my family tree for over ten years. Growing up, I had always been interested in figuring out who was related to whom, and how. There were first cousins, second cousins, aunts, uncles, and cousins once, twice, three times removed.
My research began when my husband started a new job and worked with someone who had the same last name as my grandmother (Hackett). There are a lot of Hacketts out there that I am not related to, but something he said made me question if this was the same Hackett family as my grandmother. And it is all history from there.
I have spent countless hours researching and gathering information. I have been searching for the best way to document everything and make it accessible to relatives. When I found WikiTree, I found the "best way". I am slowly working to add my relatives, their biographies, and the source documents I have found. I believe this will be a lifelong process, as the trees never ends! 😊
My research began with the four surnames of my grandparents:
Keleny
Linden
Collins
Hackett

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.
Kind regards,
