== Biography == WORK IN PROGRESS. Talk about myself, that's not such a easy thing for me to do, most of my life has been pretty much boring. Well I was born 8/1/1955 on Mitchell air force base, Hempstead Long Island. My father was stationed there and mom was with him. After my Dads discharge we settled upstate NY in a small village, Tuxedo Park. I had the normal childhood being raised in "leave it to beaver land" Went to school, college, a few different jobs before finding my place working for Greenpeace. Believe me my family/ancestors history is much less boring.
Robert (Robert I) "The Bruce, King of Scotland" (1274-1329) is my 22th great grandfather by direct relationship.
Walter "3rd High Steward of Scotland" (abt.1170-abt.1241) is my 25th great grandfather by direct relationship.

It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!
This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months. In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's ""Year of Connections"" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.
We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:
We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.
Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!
Sincerely, Amy Gilpin on behalf of the Scotland Project Leaders
I am checking in on behalf of the 1776 Project to announce the new project membership requirements and to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. All project members are being asked to join one of the project teams and also to make at least one project contribution every 6 months. We are also asking all project members to join the project's Google Group for project communications.
If you are interested in remaining with the Project, please reply to this comment or send me a message, request to join the Google Group, and let us know what team you would like to participate on.
We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
SJ - 1776 Project Leader
It’s time for a Project check-in!
Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.
What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?
This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.
As a member of the Scotland Project, we'd love to have you join the Twisted Thistles in the upcoming Connect-a-thon the weekend of July 17 - July 20. If you'd like to join us and help to develop our ever-expanding Scottish tree, please register on the G2G post here and be sure to mention you'd like to be on the Twisted Thistles team for Scotland.
We also have our team Chat page posted here.
My name is Sarah and I’m the Project Coordinator for the Scotland Project. As you may have heard, we have merged the Scottish Clans project into the Scotland Project. I am contacting you today to find out if you are interested in continuing with us under this new format. If you would like to go forward on the Scottish Clans Team, please reply and let me know which clans you have been working on or would like to work on. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
Sarah Mason, Scotland PC
The England Project Leaders check-in with the members every six months to see how people are getting on. How are you doing? I notice you've dropped out of the Orphan Trail. Is there a particular reason for this? I'd love to have your feedback.
One requirement for membership in the project is that you contribute to a team at least once every six months. Are you willing to rejoin the Trail or would you prefer to leave the project for now and focus on other things? If you do the latter you'd be most welcome to rejoin later on.
Please respond to me via e-mail.
Many thanks,
Susie, England Project Leader :-)
Arthur, I see you have an interest in Norway.
A helpful place to start is the Norway Landing Page and Norway Genealogy Resources.
Also useful is a look at patronymics and farm names at Norwegian Naming Conventions.
Good luck with your Norwegian research! Perhaps we are descended from the same region, you'll have to update me. If you need help just let me know.
Lita ~ Norway Project Member
Thank you so much for responding to our check-in. We are delighted that you wish to continue contributing to the Military and War Project. Below is a quick checklist for active members. The project leaders would like you to make sure you have done the following:
1) Checked the Project Page for ways to contribute.
2) Added MILITARY_AND_WAR to the tags you follow.
3) PMed the Project Coordinator with your email address to be added to the Google Group.
4) Bookmarked the Activity Feed to monitor the project watchlist.
Thank you!
Deb ~ Volunteer Coordinator
Thank you for responding.
If you could please give us a general idea of how you have been contributing to the Military and War Project for the last couple of months, it would be helpful to the leaders.
Deb ~ Volunteer Coordinator
On behalf of the Military and War Project Leaders, we are doing a six-month check-in with members.
First, we want to thank you for your past participation in the Military and War Project. We appreciate your desire to honor your ancestors for their service to their countries, or even for your service, wherever in the world. We hope that your membership has enhanced your WikiTree experience.
Please let me know, by commenting on my profile or sending a private message, if you are still active in the project, and if so, in which ways you have contributed to the main project or a sub-project within the last two months.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Deb ~ Volunteer Coordinator
[1] If you click on the 1 it should take you right to it.
I've added the UK and Scottish Clans Project badges to your profile. I've also added your name to the members interests page of these and the Scotland Project.
Thanks for joining, enjoy, and good luck with your research.
Maria
Your comment "Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I always understood the "Regulator Rebellion" of 1766 to 1771 to have failed. So if it failed how can it be the start of a revolution which is generally agreed to have started 1775 at Lexington and Concord?" appeared in my my mail feed but not on G2G nor did your link. Yes the War of Regulation was unsucessuful but was a prelude to the Revolution just as was the Boston Tea Party which was also a pre-War event.
