Bill was born on 30 April 1933 in Clovis, Curry, New Mexico, USA.
The family moved to Amarillo, Texas in 1935 where his dad was a reporter/editor for the Amarillo newspaper.

His dad got a job as a Washington Correspondent, and they moved to Northern Virginia in 1942 and then spent 1943 - 46 in Daytona Beach Florida while his dad was in the US Marine Corps during World War II. After the war they moved back to the Washington, D.C. area where he graduated from high school.

He graduated from Texas A&M in August 1955.
Military Service
William Johnson is a Military Veteran. Served in the United States Army 25 Dec 1955-Jun 1983 retiring as a Colonel. Served in Vietnam, Korea and Germany.

He spent 28 years on active duty in the US Army and retired as a Colonel.
He reported for active duty on 25 December 1955 at Ft. Knox, Kentucky.
He had two tours in Germany, two in Korea, one tour in Vietnam and numerous stateside assignments. He retired in June 1983 at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas.
