Biography
James Henry James was born in on 15th May 1864 in Kadina, South Australia, Australia to parents James James and Margaret Heeson Prior. He resided in South Australia until he moved to Victoria where he married Emily (Stevens) James at the age of 26, on 19th August 1890 in Bendigo.
James was a miner, working at the Wallaroo Mines (Copper mining) in South Australia before moving to Bendigo, where he also worked as a miner.
He and Emily had 7 children. Ernest Henry James (1891-1949), Percy William James (1892-1966), a female unnamed was stillborn in 1894, Albert Thomas (1895-1977), Stella Silvina (1897-1898) who died as an infant, Gladys Ann James (1898-1989), and another daughter Mabel Alexina James (1901-1917) who died aged 16 not long after his death.
He and the family resided at Mc Dougall Road, (Golden Square) Sandhurst South, Bendigo until his death on 12 April 1917 aged 52. He is buried at Benigo Cemetery, Bendigo alongside his wife Emily and daughter Mabel.
