He married Mary Carpenter on December 25, 1863 at Walcot St Swithin, Somerset, England.[4] [5]
In the 1871 census John (age 29) was in Meadow Street, Weston-Super-Mare, Axbridge, Somerset, England.[6]
In the 1881 census John (age 39), Gardener (d), was the married head of household at 15, Burlington Street, Weston-Super-Mare, Axbridge, Somerset, England.[7]
