John James Irvine was born 28 Dec 1848 in Blanshard, Perth, Upper Canada. ^[1] He lived with his family on the family farm in 1861. ^[2]

John lived in Proton in 1871.^[3] John James Irvine and Sarah Menary married 9 Jun 1875 in McKillop, Huron, Ontario, Canada. ^[4] He was a farmer at marriage, residing in McKillop and they remained there. ^{[5] [6]} The 1901 census says he farmed concession 13, lots 7 & 8, and 1911 appears to say he farmed concession 13, lot 13. Both are hard to read. ^[7]

John died 29 May 1927 in Blanshard, Perth, Ontario, Canada. ^[8] He was buried about 2 Jun 1927 in Seaforth, Huron, Ontario, Canada. ^{[9] [10]}
