Biography

Martha A. Ingersoll was born on 18 May 1861 in Bangor, Van Buren, Michigan, United States to Daniel S. Ingersoll and Charlotte Elliott. ^[1]

Martha married Ambrose W. Jones on 27 July 1877 in Fife Lake, Grand Traverse, Michigan, United States. She was 17, and he was 40. ^[2]

In 1880, Martha and Ambrose lived in Orange, Kalkaska, Michigan, United States with his children, Andrew and Jane, and the children they had together, Ella and Samuel. ^[3]

Martha married James Creighton, son of John Creighton and Ellen Summersville, on 8 September 1894 in Springfield, Kalkaska, Michigan, United States. She was 33 and worked as a housekeeper. He was 37 and worked as a farmer. ^[4]

Martha's obituary reads: " Mrs. Martha Creighton, 74, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Wedow of Traverse City, was buired there Tuesday in Oakwood Cemetery. She was born near Bangor and located in Grand Traverse region in 1871. Surviving are five children, Ella Stoke of Fife Lake, Sam Jones in Montana, Daniel S. Creighton, Mrs. Ellen Bardwell, and Margaret Wedow of Traverse City; three brothers five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren." ^[10]
