HARVEY INGALLS, b. at Pomfret, 7 Jul 1775 son of Joseph Ingalls and Sarah Abbott;[1] d. at Brookfield, VT, 20 Dec 1833;[2][3][4] m. about 1798, ELLE FORD, b. at Windham, 6 Apr 1775[5] daughter of Abraham and Abigail (Woodward) Ford;[6] Elle d. 26 Oct 1857.
Harvey Ingalls was admitted as freeman in Brookfield, Vermont in 1803.[7] In 1820, Harvey Ingalls headed a household of six persons at Brookfield: one male 45 and over, one female 45 and over, one male 16 to 25, one female 10 to 15, and two females 16 to 25.[8]
Harvey Ingalls did not leave a will and his estate entered probate 30 January 1834. Widow Ella Ingalls declined administration and Waldo W. Ingalls assumed this duty. The real estate was valued at $1,500 including 77 acres and buildings. The personal estate including stock animals was valued at $844.35.[9]
In 1850, Elle was living in the household of her son Waldo and his wife Minerva in Brookfield, Vermont.[10] Elle is interred at South Edwards, New York which is near Pitcairn, New York where her daughter Dolly settled.[11] It may be that Elle went to her daughter’s home after her son Waldo left Brookfield.
Harvey Ingalls and Elle Ford were parents of four children, the eldest at Pomfret and the youngest three children at Brookfield.[12]
