Biography

Benjamin Ross "Bennie" Ingalls was born on 20 March 1881 in Austinville, Bradford, Pennsylvania to Flora B. Ingalls (1857–1932). He says on his Social Security Application that his father's name was Fred Ingalls, but he was probably born out-of-wedlock and his father is unknown.^[1]

Between 1900 and 1905 he, his mother and his Aunt Sophia moved from Austinville to nearby Elmira, New York, where he lived for the rest of his life. Bennie did not marry and did not have children.

In 1942, when he registers for the "Old Man's Draft" he gives the address of his nearest relative as his cousin Lydia Hadlen in Berkeley, California.^[2] He did have a number of more distant cousins still in Bradford County.

He died in May 1958 and was buried on 12 May 1958 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, New York.^[3]
