Hello cousins and other relatives!

Feel free to correct or improve any profiles I manage without asking permission first. Please do add a reference and/or comment explaining your edits. Thanks for your work!

My Ancestory Summary

More than half of my ancestors are Danish immigrants. And most of those Danish ancestors are from the Northern part of Denmark. The rest of my family have mixed heritage that mostly comes from the English and Dutch colonies on the east coast of North America in the 1600s.

  • Danish 56%
  • English 16%
  • Swedish 6%
  • Scottish 3%
  • Dutch 2% (as high as 15%, but unverified)
  • Scots-Irish 2%
  • French 1%
  • Less than 1% each of German, Norwegian, Welsh, Polish, African, Spanish, and Native American (east coast North America, tribe unknown)

13% of my ancestors have unknown origins. Almost all of these are Dutch and possibly English colonists, without references proving their origin. A few are Native American or Black Dutch (Black Dutch are people descended from Dutch colonists who married freed Africans who had been enslaved, and are often listed as "mulatto" on census records).

According the a DNA test, for comparison:

  • Sweden & Demanr 55%
  • Germanic Europe 21%
  • England & Northwestern Europe 15%
  • Norway 5%
  • Wales 2%
  • Scotland 2%

  • Susan's formal name
  • e-mail address
  • exact birthdate
  • birth location

My ask is ensure you document the Wiki ID for persons in Bergen County you’ve been working on. I would think you’ve placed your ID to ‘claim’ the families? Using Family search, you can perform a search of the county of your interest and look for persons who already have profiles to find full families. If you need help with that, let me know. It has shortened some of my work. As for the profiles, we also add several categories above the =Biography= section. You can find many by pressing the button and search. Some are difficult to find so don’t sweat it. These help us sort the profiles for future work: - denotes we need more! -just an example of a county category - for married women who have an unknown last name

If you haven’t don them, click your curser to the left of the = in Biography the click on the category button.

There are so many rabbit holes to dive into!

Hello Susan,

During the winter, the Nordic Project performed check-ins, sent as a private message from your profile. You are one of those members who has not replied, and this is a last chance to get in touch and let us know if you like to continue as member in the Nordic Project.

Please answer this comment, and get in touch by sending my Co-Leader, Missy Berryann (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Berryann-1) a private message. If we have not heard from you within a month you will be removed from the Nordic google group and your badge will be removed.

If you have not received any check-in emails, you might want to check that your email address for WikiTree is one you actually still use.

Thank you!

Hello. I did not see any messages from the Nordic Project. My email is still correct and I am receiving other private messages, so there might be another kind of error.

I am still working on Danish profiles, but I no longer have the free time to coordinate my work with the group. Feel free to remove me from the project if this kind of work on my own is not enough to be a part of the group. I will still be applying all I've learned to continue the work though.

Thanks for checking in.

Hey, Susan-

Thanks for the response! Sorry you didn't get our messages- we have you checked off as having had them sent to you on our spreadsheet, so maybe there was some miscommunication on our end. Or, depending on what email it was sent from, it might have been flagged as spam. Can't say for sure, so I'll put a note down about it just to make sure it doesn't happen again.

No worries regarding project membership at this time- we know not all our members are going to be active with the group all the time. We're undergoing some revisions in our structure, but we're happy to keep you on the list, & feel free to reach out if you need anything at all. I'll check you off for this round of check-ins now.

Thanks again!

T.L.

Concerning the obvious duplicate profiles for Frands Peter Peterson (1851 - 1900) , I suggest merging them in the near future. In the long term, we need to somehow obtain translations of the Danish biographical entries. I further suggest linking no ancestors to Frands's father at this time, beyond Peder Hansen.

Thank you for your comment. I agree that we have work to do.

I can roughly translate your Danish biographical entries, if that helps. I will add translations to the biographies if I have your permission to do so.

As for not entering Frand's father and other ancestors, I disagree, for two reasons: 1-these relationships have already been entered. 2- I have references for each relationship I've entered. If you have references that show the relationships are incorrect, or if you see references on the profiles that don't belong there, please let me know and I'll fix the error and do further research.

I think it is fine to leave Frands an unmerged match until the profiles match.

Hi,

I noticed that you were following the CATEGORIZATION tag, but were not yet a member of the Categorization Project.

The Categorization Project exists to bring together WikiTreers who want to help manage the category hierarchy and also encourage categorization. If you would like to join, or learn more about our project goals, feel free to reach out!

Hi Susan,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Based on your tags the Dutch Roots Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Read the goals and tasks of the projects and join those which are a good fit.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.
