William Huckvale, listed amongst the royal workers in 1624, is surely the son of Alice Hyckes who in 1588 had married one Cuthert Huckvale, not a local name. A Cuthert Huckvale lived in Brailes in 1614 while Alice and her son appear in the Quarter Sessions in 1630s. But for neither man has any link to the Barcheston works been established.
