Jesse was born in 1890[1], the son of Frederick Hubel and Camilla Scholes.
In 1900 Jesse was living with his parents, Fred and Camilla in Detroit, Michigan[2]. Camilla was the mother of six children, all of whom were at home: Maude (1881); Fred (1883); Gertrude (1886); Camilla (1888); Jesse (1891); and Lisett (1898). The family also employed a live in servant.
In 1910 Jesse was living with his parents, Frederick and Camilla, in Detroit, Michigan[3]. Camilla was the mother of six children, all of whom were living at the time of the census. Four children remained at home: Gertrude, 23; Camilla M., 21; Jesse H., 19; and Lisette M., 12.
Jesse married Elsie in 1918[4]. Their marriage record reads:
Jesse H. Hubel, 27, residing in Detroit, Michigan, born in Michigan, chemist, son of Fred A. and Camilla Scholes,
Elsie M. Hunter, 23, residing in Detroit, Michigan, born in Michigan, daughter of W. Egerton N. and Elizabeth Kaye,
On June 19, 1918, at Detroit, Michigan.
Together they had the following children:
Joan Elizabeth, born in 1922, married Naval Officer Eli Roth in 1946[5]
In 1920, Jesse and Elsie were living in Detroit, Michigan.[6]
In 1931 Jesse and Elsie were living at 913 Hartland, Outrement, Quebec. They had two children, both of whom were noted to have been born in Quebec[7]. Jesse, born in the U.S., reported his father to have been born in Germany and his mother in Quebec; Elsie's parents were both born in Ontario.
He died in 1959 at the Montreal General Hospital[8] and was buried at the Cimetière du Mont-Royal, in Outremont, Montréal, Québec.[9]
