Josiah announced intentions to marry Bethesda Brabrook at Lancaster Feb. 2, 1746,

Josiah's first wife, Bethesda (Brabrook) Houghton, died in Lancaster, April 9, 1755.

He announced his intentions to marry Grace Whitney of Harvard, Massachusetts on November 15, 1755 in Lancaster,
